주의할 것
- 1모델마다 라이선스가 다르다. SD 1.x(CreativeML OpenRAIL-M) · SDXL 1.0(OpenRAIL++-M) 은 출력물에 라이선서가 권리를 주장하지 않지만, 첨부 A 의 금지 용도(미성년자 착취 · 허위 정보 · 명예훼손 · 차별 등)를 지켜야 하고 모델을 배포 · 서비스하면 그 제한을 이용자에게도 걸어야 한다.
- 2SD3 · SD3.5 · SDXL Turbo 등 Stability AI Community License 모델은 본인 · 계열사 연매출 합계가 100만 달러를 넘으면 라이선스가 그 날로 끝나고 기업 라이선스를 따로 받아야 한다. 상업 이용 시 Stability AI 에 등록해야 하고, 제품 · 사이트에 「Powered by Stability AI」 표시가 필요하다.
- 3Stability AI 의 Acceptable Use Policy(2026-09-30 시행) 가 라이선스에 포함돼 있다 — 사람이 만든 것처럼 속이기, 동의 없는 사칭, 성적 콘텐츠 등이 금지된다. 학습 데이터(LAION) 출처 문제에 대한 보증은 없고 출력물은 AS IS 다.

확인하지 못한 것
- SD 2.x 의 라이선스 파일(huggingface stabilityai/stable-diffusion-2 LICENSE-MODEL)은 로그인 없이는 401 로 열리지 않았다. SD 2.x 가 OpenRAIL++-M 이라는 점은 원문으로 확인하지 못했다.
- Stability AI Core Models 페이지에는 SDXL 1.0(base) 이 없고 SDXL Turbo · SD3 · SD3.5 가 올라 있다. SDXL 1.0 base 는 Hugging Face 의 LICENSE.md(OpenRAIL++-M) 로 확인했으나 Stability AI 가 이를 커뮤니티 라이선스로 바꾸지 않았는지는 확인하지 못했다.
- CivitAI 등에서 받는 파인튜닝 모델 · LoRA 는 제작자가 추가 제한(「상업 이용 금지」 「판매 금지」 등)을 걸어 두는 경우가 많다 — 모델별 확인이 필요하며 여기서는 다루지 않았다.
- Stability AI 의 학습 데이터(LAION-5B) 를 둘러싼 해외 소송(Getty Images v. Stability AI, Andersen v. Stability AI) 은 이용자가 아닌 Stability AI 를 상대로 한 것이라 사례로 넣지 않았다. 한국에서 SD 출력물 이용자가 분쟁에 휘말린 사례는 찾지 못했다.
